Associate Management Auditor (JC-440521)

Under the general supervision of the Program and Project Supervisor and with assistance of a Senior Management Auditor, the Associate Management Auditor (AMA) is primarily responsible for assisting on the completion of more difficult and various complex financial, attestation, and compliance audits, such as water and sewer utility audits, balancing account audits, communications audits, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) user fees audits, energy efficiency program audits, energy procurement audits, and audits requested by CPUC divisions or Commissioners, per professional auditing standards. In addition, the AMA is part of a team that assists in planning, organizing, and developing audit programs and may independently perform audit assignments in accordance with professional auditing standards.

AMA, either independently or as part of a team, conducts and completes financial, attestation, and compliance audits as required by professional auditing standards. Prepares clear, concise, accurate, timely, and complete working papers, develops written audit reports describing the results of audits which include identifying problem areas, completing all components of an audit finding, describing analysis performed, drawing sound conclusions, and making recommendations for improvements in systems, programs, policies, and procedures. Performs audit field work remotely or at a worksite and prepares audit reports as required by applicable auditing standards.

AMA assists in the planning and preparation of audit plans/programs according to professional auditing standards, which includes determining the purpose, scope, methodology, assessment of risk, budget hours and milestone dates. Gathers, analyzes, and research audit criteria such as laws, decisions, regulations and policies. Assists in conducting effective entrance/exit conferences. Assists on presentations to decision-makers and management concerning audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Exercises flexibility in responding to changing workloads.

The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, the ability to work well within a team environment and independently, and to coordinate and/or participate in multiple projects.

This is a statewide recruitment. This position can be filled in the following locations: San Francisco or Sacramento.

This position requires travel.
