Education and Engagement Intern

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides assistance to the Education and Engagement team in executing various projects that support and enhance education and volunteer engagement for the San Antonio River Authority.

 Safety is #1 at the River Authority: We expect every employee: to 1) Strictly follow safety policies, rules, and safe work methods. 2) Promptly correct or report safety hazards or unsafe conditions. Immediately report injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous safety improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Assists the team in coordinating and executing education and volunteer engagement events organized by the San Antonio River Authority.
  • Assists the team in responding to inquiries and providing relevant materials, when requested.
  • Provides support for volunteer events and trainings, meetings with other department staff and partner agencies.
  • Assists with volunteer and educational programs, coordinates meetings, loads/ unloads materials, sets up and breaks down at events, organizes materials and enforces safety considerations at volunteer events.
  • Demonstrates willingness to learn, speak, present, and educate groups of volunteers and community members about the San Antonio River Basin and the agency’s projects and programs.
  • Provides research and coordination assistance in the development of outreach materials for the River Authority, including but not limited to event flyers, blogs, newsletters, booth and display materials, and other necessary materials.
  • Represents the River Authority in a professional manner to promote its mission and vision.
  • Is consistently punctual, reliable, and communicative of challenges, feedback, and opinions.
  • Performs related work as required.

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

  • This position does not directly supervise any employees.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. with at least 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in Environmental Science, Education, Communications, Social Science, Public Relations, or any other field related to the mission and purpose of the River Authority.
