Rangeland Management Specialist

We're hiring several Rangeland Management Specialists to support planning, development, and implementation of soil, water, and resource conservation projects at field offices located throughout Washington State, Idaho, and Wyoming. You'll serve as a rangeland consultant and advisor to ranchers, farmers, and landowners within your assigned area of responsibility. assist local farmers, ranchers, and landowners in making resource inventories, obtaining planning information, and identifying conservation opportunities for their specific land and operations objectives. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

•  Assisting local farmers, ranchers, and landowners in making resource inventories, obtaining planning information, and finding conservation opportunities.
• Providing evaluations of available resources, identifying problems, and proposing short and/or long-term land improvement options. 
• Developing comprehensive resources management plans that support specific land and operations objectives.
• Working closely with cooperators to implement plans, determine successes and failures of established practices, and providing assistance in establishment of supplemental practices.
• Collecting cost and return data on range practices and range conservation plans. 
• Attending meetings of various rural, urban, and tribal interest groups to provide information on NRCS programs and build positive relationships with the local community.
