Patrol Officer
The Hartford Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Patrol Officer. Effective July 1st, 2023 the hiring range for this position will be $27.80-$31.09 per hour depending on qualifications.
Officers can substantially supplement their income by working occasional overtime and outside details.
Applicants who possess a full time police certification are eligible for a recruitment bonus of $10,000, and applicants possessing no prior law enforcement experience are eligible for a recruitment bonus of $5,000.
The Hartford Police Department offers a very generous total compensation package that includes paid vacation time, personal time, 12 sick days per year, 13 paid holidays, an education bonus of up to $3000 annually, health insurance (that is funded 85% by the town), physical fitness reimbursement, and many others.
Retirement- Effective July 1st 2023 newly appointed officers will be enrolled in VMERS Plan D. This retirement plan allows officers to collect a lucrative defined benefit pension at the age of 50.
As an employer, the Hartford Police Department values its employees’ work/life balance. The current patrol schedule gives officers 15 days off per month with every other weekend off.
