Founding Head of School - Ekya Nava (Bangalore, India)

Founded in 2010, Ekya Schools is a chain of progressive K-12 schools in Bangalore, India, offering Kindergarten & Montessori and Grades 1-12 affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and Cambridge IGCSE. With our in-house curriculum, students experience a rich learning journey designed to challenge, engage, and excite. By drawing on the legacy of the CMR Group of Institutions and the innovative, immersive methods of school systems worldwide, the Ekya Schools were instituted with one aim – to teach children not just what to learn but how to learn. Here, knowing how to learn is a skill and the key to creating lifelong learners with the means to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing world.

Ekya Schools will launch a new chain of K-12 schools known as the “Purpose Based Schools” for the next academic year, 2025-2026. These Purpose-based schools are thematic schools that allow students to specialize in an area of interest from a young age.

The first purpose-based school to launch is Ekya Nava, a school of Innovation, Creativity and Design that aims to empower the next generation of thinkers, innovators, scientists, product leaders, changemakers and technopreneurs. At Nava, we will harness technology and innovation through future forward and hands-on experiential programs to sharpen and transform young minds. Students will learn differently, present their learning and develop a mindset that allows them to identify connections between their specializations and learning areas.

Role Purpose:

We seek a seasoned and visionary educator with exceptional academic and professional credentials to join us as the Founding Head of the School at Ekya Nava. This pivotal role includes laying the groundwork for our school, recruiting and leading the founding teaching staff, and fostering an atmosphere of inspiration and inclusivity.

As the Head of School, you will have the autonomy and backing to shape Ekya Nava's educational direction, significantly influencing the lives of students and the broader community. Your leadership will drive the implementation of varied educational pathways, ensuring that each student's distinct talents and interests are cultivated to their utmost potential.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Curriculum Leadership: Lead the implementation and ongoing refinement of the Ekya Nava curriculum based on our innovative framework. Ensure curriculum design reflects the latest educational research, caters to diverse learning styles, and prepares students for future challenges.
Educational Excellence: Provide strategic direction and instructional leadership to promote high academic standards and effective teaching practices across all grade levels.
Teacher Development: Recruit, mentor, and support a talented team of educators. Foster a professional growth and collaboration culture to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
Student Engagement and Support: Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that supports every student's academic, social, and emotional development. Implement strategies to promote student engagement, well-being, and success.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong partnerships with parents, community organisations, and educational stakeholders to foster a supportive and enriching school community. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with Ekya Nava’s academic goals and values.
Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day school operations, including budget management, facilities maintenance, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure efficient use of resources to support educational goals and enhance the overall school experience.
Continuous Improvement: Lead ongoing evaluation and improvement initiatives to enhance curriculum effectiveness, teaching quality, and overall school performance. Stay abreast of educational trends and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement at Ekya Nava.
Student Enrolment and Marketing: Lead the execution of student enrollment strategies and drive marketing initiatives to attract prospective students and families. Implement outreach programs, promotional campaigns, and community engagement efforts to increase school visibility and enrollment. Analyze enrollment trends and adjust strategies to meet school admission targets. Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling content and manage the school's online presence.

Expected Date of Joining: By Jan 2025

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or higher in Education or a related field
Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in a K-12 educational setting, with a proven track record of success in educational leadership, curriculum development, and teacher development.
Deep understanding of curriculum design, educational best practices, and innovative teaching methodologies.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse school community toward achieving shared goals.
Commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
