
Educational Specialist
Birch Agency is a nationwide provider of staffing for special education, and has an immediate opening for 2 Educational Specialist in the Pacifica, California area. We are in need of 1 Moderate/Severe credentialed specialist who is capable of working with 6 students in an SDC setting & 1 Mild/Moderate credentialed specialist who is capable of working with 5th-8th graders in a RSP setting.
Job Responsibilities
The main role of a Educational Specialist is to provide instruction and support which facilitates the participation of students with disabilities in the regular classroom.
- Serve as case managers and be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of students’ IEPs.
- Provide the necessary information to the classroom teacher prior to the child entering the general education classroom regarding the student’s disability, medical concerns, and/or equipment operation (ways to meet unique needs).
- Collaborate with the general education teacher in adapting the curriculum, providing appropriate modifications, ensuring the implementation of modifications, and assessing overall progress of the child.
- Complete and maintain all assigned student’s records (i.e., IEP, ESYP, documentation, progress report, behavior plan, etc.).
- May team teach lessons, either small group or whole class.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (Masters Preferred)
- Licensed to teach severely delayed or disabled children
- California Mild/Moderate OR Moderate/Severe Teaching Certification (Required)
- Availability to work 6.5 hrs per day (32.5 hours per week)
- Capable of handling caseloads of 20-30 students minimum
