Early Careers: Facilities Broker

Aon

Early Careers Facilities Broker

  • Preferred Locations: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York City

The reinsurance industry, which provides insurance for insurance companies, is a great place to begin a career. Insurance companies transfer hundreds of billions of dollars to reinsurance companies and as a reinsurance broker you will help make that happen.

Aon is the world’s #1 reinsurance broker by brokerage revenue (we keep a percentage of the many billions of dollars we transfer from insurers to reinsurers as brokerage revenue) and this role is on Aon’s fastest growing reinsurance team: the Facilities team.

In addition to growing fast, the Facilities team is exciting as it offers insurers the ability to purchase reinsurance on-demand via web app and API. Digital reinsurance sales are not the norm but make this role unique and well-positioned for the future.

Reinsurance Broker Role

As a reinsurance broker you will work with:

  • Insurance company clients and prospects to protect and grow reinsurance brokerage revenue
  • Reinsurance underwriters to negotiate deals
  • Adjacent Aon teams such as our Actuarial, Cat Modeling, Accounting, Claims, Product, and Contract teams

As an early-career broker you will make an immediate impact by learning and improving our team’s data operations (our deals are operationally heavy with lots of demand, lots of data, premium in many currencies, etc). To assist with these tasks, we’re seeking candidates with numerical and data proficiency.

Communication and verbal skills are also important. Early in your broking career you’ll be using these to collaborate with adjacent Aon teams. Mid-career you’ll be using these to negotiate reinsurance deals and manage client relationships. Later in your broking career you’ll be using them to cultivate relationships with insurance company prospects and win new business that grows Aon’s revenue.

Training Program

To get you up to speed as a reinsurance broker, Aon offers industry-best training program. Specifically, you’ll get sent to Minneapolis twice within your first year, once for the two-week Fundamentals 101 and again for the three-week Fundamentals 102 training programs, where you’ll learn reinsurance and meet your Aon Reinsurance Solutions early-careers peers.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong numerical proficiency preferred
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Data proficiency: proficient in Microsoft Excel and you ideally also have experience with statistical programming languages (e.g. R, Python) and/or SQL.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities

Qualifications

Seniors graduating between Spring 2024 – Spring 2025 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Please note: Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.
