Mayo Clinic has an exciting Nurse Tech opportunity at the Rochester, MN campus for Junior and Senior Nursing students to advance their understanding and preparation for a career as a Registered Nurse!

Hours / Pay period

0.8-1.0 FTE during summer; Late August will transition to 0.2-0.5 FTE during school year or supplemental status with minimal commitment of 48 hours per 3 months (16 hours per month average).

Schedule details

Sunday – Saturday; Day/Evening/Nights, 8 or 12-hour shifts

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of junior year of baccalaureate nursing program or successful completion of 2 semesters of associate nursing program.
  • Successful experience in clinical areas as described in instructor references to perform the functions which are within this job description.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS).

Additional qualifications

  • Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting and deal with stress caused by the care of patients.

NURSING INTEREST AREAS. Areas for consideration will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Candidate experience is required to be considered for high acuity areas. The following are areas will be considered for assignment.

  • Inpatient Psychiatry
  • Inpatient Pediatrics
  • Primary Care

License or certification

Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers - BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date.  

A scanned copy of the certificate of completion, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:

  • American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)
  • Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • Military Training Network

Description

  • The Nurse Technician performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
  • The designated tasks are those which have been taught in the academic programs and/or orientation, and where the individual has demonstrated competence to a designated RN. The functions are those limited by law to unlicensed personnel.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned in accordance with the state’s Nurse Practice Act.
