Interpretive Naturalist
As an interpretive naturalist you will lead informative, educational, and entertaining (scripted) walking tours of Crystal Cave. You will also interact with guests on the surface at gem panning, mini golf, and in the gift shop.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Willingness to learn about the scientifically accepted facts of geology, biology, and conservation, history of the cave, and occasional anecdotes during the scripted tour. (Previous geology background is not required as training is provided.)
- Provide superior guest service for all visitors at all times.
- Assist visitors in the gift shop, picnic areas and other attractions including gem panning and mini golf.
- Contribute to the general cleaning and upkeep of the grounds, gardens, gift shop and cave.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 16 years old or older.
- Interest in the natural environment, nature appreciation, nature education
- May be required to work various day shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.
- Enjoy working with the general public and school groups.
- Have excellent verbal communication skills, ability to be pleasant, confident and engaging.
- Must be committed to having fun at work and encouraging our guests to do the same during their visit.
- Must be in good physical condition; to be able to descend and ascend several flights of stairs and ramps several times each day, stand for extended periods of time, lift a minimum of 30 pounds
- Comfortable in a cave environment.
- Able to learn and understand basic geology, biology, and conservation of caves.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
