Arkansas State Parks Historic Preservation Individual Placement

Position Location: Historic Washington State Park

 

About us:  

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country.

 

 

Preferred Dates: May 19, 2025 – August 5, 2025

Host Site: Historic Washington State Park

 

Join the staff at Historic Washington State Park in their efforts to preserve Arkansas’s rich and varied history. Job tasks will vary but may include:

 

Key duties: cataloging artifacts or archival collections; developing and presenting educational programs.

 

Marginal duties: historical research; interviewing and transcribing oral histories; giving guided tours of historical facilities, and other related tasks.

 

To qualify for this position, an applicant must meet the following criteria: 

·      Be a full-time student in good standing at an Arkansas college/university at the time of application.

·      Have declared a degree of study.

·      Have completed 60 hours of college credit by the time the position begins.

·      Be an Arkansas resident paying in-state tuition.

·      Maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.

·      Demonstrate coursework or knowledge related to work area.

·      Be at least 18 years of age.

·      Pass a criminal background check

·      Have reliable on-site transportation

 

Priority will be given to candidates from universities who provide course credit hours for individual placements. Selected candidates will coordinate directly with their universities to obtain credit for their work.

 

Each Individual Placement selected will receive:

·      A weekly subsistence allowance of $500 during the internship period

·      A weekly travel grant of $50 to offset the cost of commuting to the internship site

·      An approved uniform.

·      An AmeriCorps Educational Award, if and when available, for interns that meet the qualifications set by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

 

Individual Placement Benefits:

Living Allowance: $500 per week

Commuter Allowance $50.00 per week

Housing provided.
