Be a United States citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Must be at least 20 years old by the application deadline and no older than 40 years of age at time of written exam. Candidates under 21 years of age are invited to apply but will not receive an offer of employment until they have legally turned 21.

Have a high school diploma (or its equivalent)

Possess a valid Illinois driver's license

Possess a valid P.O.W.E.R test card dated within one year of the written exam. Must be dated within one year of the exam date.

Must not have been convicted of any felony or crimes of moral turpitude

Must possess a satisfactory driving record

Be free from the use of illegal drugs

Willingness to submit to a thorough background investigation designed to measure the applicant's suitability for police work

Must live within 22 miles of the City of Harvey limits.
