25-02364 Property Assessment Coordinator III
The Office of Property Valuation has an opening for a Property Assessment Coordinator III in the Division of Local Support, Western Field Branch. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to elected officials, staff, and other managers.
As a Property Assessment Coordinator III for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will provide direct technical assistance to PVAs and local officials to resolve tax matters.
1. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducts full scope reviews of real and personal property assessment work and property records including tax rolls, mapping, photographs and computer data of PVA.
- Review sales and assessment data that have been submitted by PVA as part of DORs annual assessment and sales ratio study.
- Conduct sheriff settlements to conclude the state property tax collection process for a particular year.
- Meet with local officials or property owners on property tax related matters and be able to explain solutions on most issues.
- Participates in the annual conference provided for PVAs by presenting workshops on Property Tax related topics for PVAs.
- Christian, Hopkins, Logan, Muhlenberg, Simpson and Todd counties.
The successful candidate must possess clear communication skills to work with taxpayers in person or over the telephone and in writing, sometimes in confrontational situations.
2. Additional / Supplemental information:
- Required to successfully complete a background investigation including an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
- Required to comply with all tax laws.
- Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone.
- Some travel for training and education.

3. Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, real estate or a related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of experience in property assessment, appraisal or property tax administrative issues.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in any of the above related fields will substitute for the experience requirement on a year- for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Property assessment or appraisal experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must complete courses and meet the requirements to be awarded a Certified Kentucky Assessor (CKA) and Senior Kentucky Assessor (SKA) designations from the Office of Property Valuation as determined by the agency. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
4. Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
