Job Summary:
This recruitment will be used to fill two full-time, seasonal (May – August and May – October) Biological Sciences Research Technician 2 positions for the Botany and Plant Pathology unit within College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU ).
This position will be located in Blue River, Oregon.
This position resides under the Botany and Plant Pathology unit within OSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences. Much of the work is located at H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest in the Willamette National Forest.
Position exists to support data collection associated with the LTER8 program. Tasks associated with this position include re-sampling field plots at the HJ Andrew Experimental Forest, sample collection in the field, and sample processing.

Sampling seedling performance in established field plots (40%) (from last season’s established plots)
Characterizing plant community and environmental conditions withing field plots (40%)
Data entry (10%)
Data processing and analysis (10%)
What You Will Need
Two years of college-level courses in (in a relevant field of biological science) and one year of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Research Technician 1 level; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Ability to work collaboratively with lab members, co-workers, and faculty to foster a safe, respectful, kind, inclusive, and equitable environment.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Approximately 80% of effort in a field setting. Field setting is an experimental forest. Position requires working outdoors in varied weather conditions. Driving to field sites may be required.
