Client Service Representative

May 2022 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

Was nice to be able to see how it is to work every day in a job I wish to have when I graduate.

What I wish was different

A little bit more structured. Lot of times advisors weren't at work in person, would have been nice to spend time with them one on one and be able to be taught.

Advice

Take in as much information you can. Being respectful to other workers can get you a long way in personal networking. You never know the opportunities ahead.

Financial Advisor Intern

June - September 2020 • Syracuse, NY

What I liked

I loved being a part of a true team and considered an asset rather than a trainee or someone "less than". I learned a lot about the lives of financial advisors and the various tasks that come with he career.

What I wish was different

Due to COVID 19 restrictions the internship was mostly online so if I could change anything I would have loved more hands on experience.

Advice

Trust those in the positions you are considering and decide wether or not it is actually something you could see yourself doing.

Summer Finance Extern

June - August 2020 • Woodbridge Township, NJ

What I liked

There are many things I love about my internship - the experience/knowledge i’ve gained, the work-life balance environment, my manager and team members, and even the group of individuals I workout with on my lunch breaks. But, if I had to put it on one thing, what I like most is ultimately the fact that this opportunity really opened the door into my career.

What I wish was different

It’s hard to express how important it is to keep all of your work labeled and filed in a way that i can find it at a moment’s notice. i never know what document or set of notes might be relevant in the future, so kept them all and didn't fuss with a creative name. Usage of the most literal title possible I was able to stress and just not do my best in the beginning of the experience. I wish I did that part differently.

Advice

I would like to say is to work harder than the rest but also take in the experience like the good and bad just be human and mess up because it will teach you long term on how to do things.

Financial Advisor Intern

July - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I gained experience in sales as well as expanded my knowledge of the financial industry.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten the opportunity to see the final sales calls, and see how professionals work, instead of working largely by myself.

Advice

I'm not sure this career path is for everyone. It is incredibly repetitive in the first few years within the industry, and not everybody wants to split their time between cold calling and preparing for financial exams.
