Stanley Black & Decker

Graphic Designer Intern

June - August 2021 • New Britain, CT

What I liked

Really awesome experience! I got to learn a lot about working in a corporate environment and with a close team. I also gained guidance on developing my graphic design skills and received great direction and feedback. There were many opportunities for networking and attending fun luncheons and activities as well!

What I wish was different

The general group project that took place outside of your main role could have been better. Judging seemed pretty biased, and the project didn't really fit into everyone's expertise.

Advice

Be open to any experience presented to you, always ask questions, and make connections with everyone!

Hands-on learning experience with lean concepts and Kaizen.

What I wish was different

Due to COVID, I had to sit on the other side of the plant from my team. It made it difficult to feel like apart of the team.

Advice

Take a day to walk around the plant to ask workers questions and observe their job responsibilities. They have great ideas for improvement already, they just need someone to listen to them.

Graphic Designer Intern

June - August 2018 • Towson, MD

What I liked

Stanley Black & Decker created an awesome intern experience in which I interacted with almost 100 other interns on a regular basis. I felt that networking opportunities, not only with my peers, but full-timers and executives were heavily promoted and made readily available. Intern managers made themselves available and worked tirelessly to make the whole experience as smooth as possible.

What I wish was different

Being stationed on the main campus away from my actual team was rather awkward but my managers were happy to compensate and let me work from the team's office more often than not. It worked out in the end.
